Cedar Lakes puts out a product called Nuti-Loaf that looks like Nuteena in the ingrediates.
The Sandwich spread can be duplicated I think by mixing Nuti-Loaf and some Garbanzo spread possibly Hummas and olives together. One can experiment with that. The sandwich spread ingredients looked like Nuteena and garbanzo bean spread with olives.
I just bought some of that Nuti-Loaf. The checkout attendant said that Nut-Loaf made by Vibrant Life is the closest to taste to the old Nuteena.
I have to try that mix myself.

I am told by the college Market that the product Country Stew by Worthington is also to be discontinued. What they have in stock now is all that they are going to be selling. So if you like Country Stew buy it now while you can.

You made me lol! I hate that nuteena stuff too! I can hardly swallow it.
On the other hand, I love Sandwich Spread. I know it is because I load it with Miracle Whip before eating! Since I did that, it is no longer good for me. However, I sure do miss that stuff.
Now that I see that Nuteenas has bee born again, maybe Sandwich Spread will return too. I surly hope so! Num, Yum!

Eewww! Mrs. Gray and I have a big disagreement on Numete (Although we do agree on the matter of nuteena being the true test of Adventism.) I absolutely loathe the stuff. There is another thread that talks about the use of cat carcasses to fuel vehicles... well, I think that Numete would be a great substitute meat there. With tomato sauce? Retchhh! The only thing worse is Redimete.
Just a personal taste issue. I'm sure many people love it.
Sandwich spread with miracle whip, and diced onions, celery, and pickles is awesome.

Of course there is an environmental hazard there. Consumption of Numete and Redimete results in a very toxic form of exhaust.

Indeed it will. Fact is, you can taste the rot ascending your throat for many hours after consuming it. It rises contiuosly in many small whisps, too small to be called a burp. Brushing your teeth, and gargling even the most powerful mouthwash is an utter waste of effort. It is like drinking a coke to drown out the taste of a durian (Yes, I made that foolish mistake.) The flavour is only intensified.

Fried Nuteena in onions works for me. I just never could stomach Rediburger. The after-taste was intolerable. (Same with Big Franks)
Nuteena fried in sliced bell peppers, onions, and celery, with a bit of balsamic vinegar is one of my favourites.

At a church picnic they had fried big franks fried in onions and peppers. Now that was very good. You might want to give big franks another shot fried up in with some of your favorite veggies and seasonings. By itself Big franks are kind of blah tasting.

Perhaps the "Health Food" forum should be renamed, "Adventist Food" forum
I don't know that seasoning, veggies, and condiments could suffice with the Big Franks. I just think they taste bad.
Now Leanies are another thing. I really like them, and so do my kids. In fact they won't eat other kinds of hotdogs anymore.

This must be a world-wide problem as we have had Nutolene taken from the supermarket shelves in the last month.Very disappointed as it is the favourite in our house!
So, how about making it yourselves, not quite the same, but it's a pretty good 2nd choice!
Nutolene
3 eggs
1 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup wholemeal flour
1 finely chopped onion
1 cup cold water
1 cup boiling water
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon mixed herbs
Beat eggs in 1 cup cold water. Mix 1 cup peanut butter gradually to a cream with 1 cup boiling water. Combine the mixture. Add wholemeal flour,salt,onion and mixed herbs. Steam for 2 hours or bake slowly in oven for 3/4 hour at 150c or 350 F.
The steamed method is more realistic to Nutolene.
